A man was killed and nine others injured when a girder of an under-construction bridge collapsed on the Kalapara-Kuakata road at Hazipur in Kalapara upazila on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Faruk Akand, 45. Locals said the accident took place around 9.00 am when a girder of an under-construction bridge collapsed on a passenger bus standing near Hazipur ferry ghat for crossing, leaving 10 people injured. Of the injured, Faruk died on way to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex while condition of three other people was stated to be critical. -UNB,Patuakhali
