Firefighters have doused the fire at a multi-storied building in the Dilkusha commercial area in Dhaka.Fire Service official Nilufer Yasmin said they received report of a fire on the 18th floor of the Dilkusha Centre around 11am on Tuesday.
Eight firefighting units rushed there and controlled the fire, she said.
The building’s liftman Humayun said electric and dish cables caught fire during welding work at the fourth floor and it spread to other parts of the building.
Staff of various companies with offices in the building ran out of it after alarmed by the smoke.
No one was injured in the fire and the building did not suffer much damage, said Fire Service Director (Training) Jihadul Islam.
“The situation is under control,” he said.
