Twarikat Foundation to contest polls

Bangladesh Twarikat Foundation will contest the 10th parliamentary polls. The party’s chairman, Syed Nazibul Boshor Maijbhandari, announced this after a meeting on Tuesday with the 14-Party Grand Alliance led by the Awami-League.Earlier, on Monday, a faction of the Jatiya Party, led by Anwar Hossain Manju, had also pledged its participation in the election.
The Jatiya Party is the first party, apart from the Awami-League-led Grand Alliance constituents, to make up its mind on joining the poll.
Nazibul, who was once an Awami League MP, said, “We are carrying on a movement against the violence unleashed by Jamaat-Shibir. We will contest the upcoming election under the all-party government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
Nasim said the Twarikat Foundation will be on the side of Grand Alliance to defeat the anarchy created by Jamaat-e-Islam and Hifazat-e-Islam.
The High Court declared Jamaat-e-Islami’s registration illegal following a writ petition filed by the Twaraikat Foundation. – bdnews24.com
