Police arrested 10 activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from different places of Sharankhola upazila early Wednesday on charge of hartal-time vandalism.Sub-inspector Nazrul Islam of Sharankhola Police Station said a team of police conducted a drive in different areas in the little hours of Wednesday and arrested the 10 BNP and Jamaat workers on charge of vandalising vehicles, business establishments and educational institution from their procession during the ongoing shutdown enforced by the 18-party opposition alliance.
Mentionable, a group of activists of BNP and Jamaat brought out a sudden procession from Rajoir area of the upazila at about 4:45pm on Tuesday, from where they vandalised 50 vehicles, scores of shops and a schoolhouse in the area.
They beat up Mohiuddin Khan, general secretary of Khonta Union unit of Awami League and also damaged his motorcycle. –UNB, Bagerhat
