Local BNP on Sunday called a non-stop hartal in Comilla-9 constituency (Laksam and Monaharganj upazilas) from Monday demanding the tracing of two party leaders, allegedly picked up by law enforcers. District (south) BNP vice-president and former MP Col (retd) M Anwarul Azim announced the shutdown from a protest rally at Bypass road in Laksam in the afternoon. BNP sources said members of the law enforcement agencies picked up its Laksam upazila unit president and former MP Saiful Islam Hiru, poura BNP chief Humayun Kabir Parvez and Jasim Uddin on their way to Comilla Medical College to see the injured party men on Wednesday night. Rapid Action Battalion-11 handed Jasim to Laksam Police Station. However, the two other BNP leaders remained traceless. Speaking at the protest rally, Azim said they will continue their non-stop hartal in the constituency until the two BNP leaders are traced. – UNB
