Proper awareness on voting rights of citizens stressed

Speakers at an orientation workshop here have stressed for creating proper awareness among the socially backward people and new voters so that they would exercise their voting rights while electing their representatives.

The Hunger Project and Shushashoner Janno Nagorik (SJN) jointly organised the workshop styled “Participation of the Youths in Awareness-building Programme for Voters” at Rangpur Shahittya Parishad auditorium here in the city on Sunday.

Vice-president of Rangpur unit of SJN Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu chaired the workshop participated by 40 male and female youths including the college and university levels students.

General Secretary of Rangpur unit of SJN Akbar Hossain, its city unit Secretary M G Sajjad, Coordinators of The Hunger Project Tuhin Alam and Rajesh Dey Raju conducted different sessions of the workshop as the resource persons.

They narrated various aspects of voting rights of every citizen and necessity of exercising their voting rights properly in the process of electing the public representatives for smooth uplift of the people, society as the nation as whole.

The workshop decided for organising 80 campaigns in Rangpur City Corporation area and four Olympiads for the college and university levels students to create awareness among the slum dwellers and new voters on their voting rights. -BSS, Rangpur
