The district level advocacy meeting on 21st National Immunisation Day (NID) and Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign organized by district health department was held on Tuesday in the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Faridpur.
DC Abu Hena Morshed Zaman was the chief guest in the important health related meeting chaired by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sirajul Haque Talukdar and attended by representatives of health, family planning, NGOs and all walks of life.
A power point presentation was made on the 21st NID to be held on December 21 with the aim of achieving the target of feeding oral polio vaccine to 2.50 lakh children under 5 years in the district.
The power point presentation also disclosed that measles-rubella vaccine programme will be held from January 25 to 30, 2014 applicable for the children from 9 months to 15 years. The MR vaccine will be pushed through syringe into the body.
According to the presentation both NID and MR campaign will be held at the permanent centers, out reach points and educational institutions.
DC Morshed Zaman addressing the meeting called upon all concerned to extend their all out cooperation to make these programs successful because Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI), NID and MR campaigns in our country have many success stories which are even best among the sub-continental countries.
He also assured that he is pledge-bound to play supportive role of the civil administration in these programs.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Talukdar directed the health officials to take utmost care particularly during MR campaign. Explaining the symptoms of Rubella disease he said this is another kind of measles but endemic in nature and it needs preventive measure than curative.
He further said that the target of 21st NID is to cover 95 per cent of the children under 5 years by 2015 which is now 86 per cent.
