Unopposed election a sham. Killings, disappearances stun people: IOJ

Islami Oikya Jote, an ally of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, has termed the election of 154 lawmakers before holding the poll schedule for January 5 a shameful one.IOJ chairman Maulana Abdul Latif Nezami and secretary general Mufti Foyzullah in a statement on Sunday said the people are embarrassed with the election but the government and the Election Commission are not.
They said the nation never witness such a farcical election where a record number of candidates were elected uncontested.
“The election proved that the Awami League turned into a yatim (orphan) league,” said the statement.
The IOJ leader said the nation is become stunned with the killing, disappearance and repression policy of the government in a barbaric way.
They alleged that the media are forced to carryout one-sided and false news and not to focus major portion of massive killings by the law enforcers and ruling party cadres. – Staff Reporter
