Awami League on Wednesday relieved Dr Awlad Hossain of all posts of the party, including primary membership, as he is contesting the 10th parliamentary polls from Dhaka-4 constituency as an independent candidate ignoring the party decision. The party also directed its leaders and activists under Dhaka-4 constituency not to assist Dr Awlad, said a party press release. “Similar actions will be taken against those who will cooperate with Dr Awlad ignoring the party directive,” the release added. The action against Dr Awlad Hossain, incumbent joint general secretary of Dhaka City Awami League, came when he chose to contest the election as independent candidate from Dhaka-4, the constituency which the Awami League earmarked for Jatiya Party candidate Syed Abu Hossain Babla. – UNB
