Polls turned into a comic: CPB, BSD

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) on Thursday cautioned that the political crisis will continue after the 10th parliamentary polls as the election process leaves out 53 percent of the voters from exercising their franchise. The process that the next parliament will consist of 154 candidates without any vote being cast in their respective constituencies has turned the upcoming polls into a comic one, leaders of the two left organisations observed at a meeting held at Mukhi Bhaban.   The one-sided polls without the casing of 53 percent votes means a parliament without the representation of people, and the political crisis will continue after the polls because of the factor that parliament in the offing lack the legitimacy to rule the country, they added.   The leaders also noted that Jamaat-Shibir will get more scope of carrying out violence in their bid to foil the trial of war criminals, taking advantage of the lack of legitimacy and ethical strength of the government to be formed.   Presided over by CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim, the meeting was also attended by SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman and CPB general secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed. – UNB
