The joint forces and police arrested three BNP-Jamaat leaders from different areas of Monirampur and sadar upazilas in the district on Thursday.
Police arrested Jamaat’s Jessore district secretary Master Nurun-Nabi in front of Ad-Din Hospital in Railroad area in the evening for sabotage acts during opposition’s blockade and hartal.
The others arrested were identified as Monirampur thana Jubo Dal secretary and local union parishad chairman Nistar Faruque and Khedapara union parishad chairman GM Omar Farque.
Officer-in-charge of Moniramur thana Mir Rezaul Hossen said two UP chairmen were arrested in connection with the subversive activities.
“They were arrested in connection with the subversive activities during recent waves of hartals and blockade in the district”, said Reshma Sharmin, assistant superintendent of
