Police in separate drives arrested five activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir in Sadar, Akkelpur and Kalai upazilas early Wednesday.
Police control room sources said in separate drives on Tuesday midnight police arrested two Jamaat activists from Sadar upazila, two from Akkelpur and a Shibir activist from Kalai upazila.
Police said the five were arrested on charges of involvement in vandalism and anarchy during the recent hartal and blockade programmes of the 18-party alliance in the district. -UNB, Joypurhat
