The government distributed blankets to 100 inmates of Gaibandha Government Shishu Paribar (Girls) on Tuesday.
A simple ceremony organized by district administration was held here with additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Zahurul Islam Rhohel addressed the function and distributed the blankets as the chief guest and Sadar UNO Mamunur Rashid was present as the special guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by deputy director of social services department M Shahidur Rahman, deputy superintendent of the paribar Umme Habiba Akter, upazila project implementation officer M Mofakkharul Islam and journalist Sarker M Shahiduzzaman.
Speaking on the occasion, Zahurul islam advised the officials and the staff of the paribar to be more professional and dedicated in providing their services to the orphans to make them worthy citizens of the country.
He also urged the NGOs, social workers and the well off section of the society to stand beside the destitute of the district to mitigate their sufferings during chilly weather. -BSS, Gaibandha
