Mawa-Kawrakandi ferry service resumes

Ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi route resumed after 3.30 hours of disruption due to heavy fog over the River Padma at 9.30 am this morning.

Due to the disruption, about 100 vehicles got stuck at Mawa Ghat.

Shekhar Chandra Ray, Assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s (BIWTA), said 10 ferries of the Mawa-Kawrakandi route were forced to anchor at the middle of the Padma river due to poor visibility from 6 am in early this morning.

After the fog disappeared, ferry services resumed at 9.30 am.

The ferry services between Mawa and Kawrakandi route have been disrupting since last week due to thick fog and chilly weather, the sources added. –BSS, Munshiganj
