Police on Sunday submitted charge sheet against 11 persons, including BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed with Motijheel Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act.
Investigation Officer (IO) and Sub-Inspector of the Police Station KM Azizul Haq filed the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka.
Among others Golam Hossain, Saiful Islam, Abul Kalam Azad, Sajib, Ala Uddin, Saifullah, Atiqur and Azad are accused in the case. These activists of BNP and its associate organizations were allegedly involved in the incident of an explosion on Dec 9, 2012 at the Dainik Bangla intersection. According to the case docket the accused attacked police from a procession of BNP and Jamat-Shibir. They created panic among the people hurling cocktails, the state added.
It has been learned that the charge sheet was actually submitted on
December 13 of last year. But Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman signed it on Sunday. He said the case would be forwarded to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for further action.
