Soon after the High Court granted interim bail for six months to BNP leader Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu in the Jubo League leader Palash Karmaker murder case, the government on Sunday filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking a stay of the order.
Following a petition, an HC bench comprising Justice Borhanuddin and Justice KM Kamrul Kader granted the BNP leader bail on health grounds.
However, the state filed a petition with the Appellate Division soon after the HC order.
The petition may come up for hearing at the chamber judge of the Appellate Division on Monday, said deputy attorney general Mohammad Selim.
Palash, who sustained bullet injuries during a gunfight with BNP in the district town on December 8, 2012, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital three days later.
Earlier, the Appellate Division cancelled the HC bail of Dulu granted on health grounds in 2013.
Scrapping the bail, the apex court said he could seek bail after four months on new grounds or after submission of police report in the case.
