Police arrested four dacoits following a gunfight that left five people, including four police personnel injured in Beljani village under Boalmari upazila of the district in the small hours of Tuesday.
Police sources said a team of police encircled the Beljani area in the early hours on information that a gang of 10-12 dacoits was taking preparations to commit robbery.Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the dacoits attacked police with ‘Ramda’ and sticks, which forced police to retaliate which
triggered a gunfight.The nighttime gunfight left four policemen and the robber ringleader injured. The injured cops are ASI Borhan, ASI Siraj, police constable Sabuj and Rubel of Boalmari police station.Police arrested four dacoits while fleeing from the spot. They are kingpin Sarder Jamal Mollah, Mohammad Humayun, Mahamudur Rahman and Hanif Mollah.Injured gang leader Jamal was admitted to Boalmari Health Complex.A case was filed with Boalmari police station in this connection. -BSS, Faridpur
