Police recovered the body of an unidentified young man with the head cut off from the Surma River close to Patramati village in Kanaighat upazila on Sunday.
Police said local people noticed the body of the youth, aged around 20, wrapped in a red bed sheet in the river around 10:00am and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body bearing several injury marks also, along with the severed head from 20 to 30 feet distance, and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.Sub-inspector Abdul Wahid of Kanaighat Police Station said miscreants killed the man elsewhere and dumped the body there.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Sylhet
