A court here on Monday sent six Jubo League men to jail in a case filed in connection with the killing of their fellowman Humayun Kabir Murad.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Sayeed passed the order when they surrendered before his court seeking bail.
Those who were sent to jail are Jubo League central committee member Ali Hossain, Kokan Chandra Tanti, Ziaul alias Sohagh, Mohammad Masum, Mohammad Sumon and Saiful.City Jubo League convener Murad was killed in Pahartali level crossing area of the city on October 29, 2013.
Victim’s wife filed a case against 11 people, including Jubo League cadre Tanti, in this connection.
All of them are also accused in the double-murder case filed in connection with the killing of two people, including an eight-year-old boy, during a gunfight between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jubo League over a railway tender in the port city on June 24 last year.
Defence lawyer Advocate Iftekhar said when his clients moved the High Court for bail on January 27, it asked them to surrender before the trial court by February 18. “As they turned up in compliance with the High Court order, the court sent them to jail.” – UNB
