Police in two separate drives arrested two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami on charges of attacking police and obstructing them from performing duties and vandalising vehicles on Tuesday night.The arrested were identified as Ariful Islam Sohel, 40, secretary of Belkuchi upazila unit of Jamaat and son of late Abdul Bari of Haat Kandapara village of the upazila, and Shahjahan Ali, ameer of Ullapara upazila unit of Jamaat and vice-chairman candidate of the
upazila.Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a raid in the house of Salap union chairman Shahidul Islam and arrested Sohel in the evening.
