A devastating fire burnt down 16 shops and injured 20 people at Hajiganj Bazar in Hajiganj upazila on Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses said the fire originated from a tea shop at Hajiganj Bazar in the afternoon and it soon engulfed adjoining other shops.On information, two firefighting units from Hajiganj rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts.At least 20 people received burn injuries while extinguishing the fire.They were admitted to Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex and different private clinics.The extent of loses from the fire was estimated at about Tk 3 crore. -UNB, Chandpur
