Police arrested an alleged terrorist with bullet wounds during a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy in Shangkarpur Ashram Road area in the district town on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Rony alias Dant Bhanga Rony,22, son of Ruhul Amin, a resident of the area.Sub-inspector Shoeb Uddin of Kotwali Police Station said there had been a longstanding dispute between two groups–one led by Yeasin and another by Rabbi–over establishing dominion in the area.A clash erupted following an altercation between the supporters of the two groups in the area at about 6:30 pm. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee.Being informed, police rushed to the spot.Sensing the presence of the police, the two groups started hurling crude bombs at them, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate.Police fired five gunshots, leaving Rony bullet-wounded.Later, the law enforcers arrested Rony and got him admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital.The arrestee is wanted in several cases, the SI said. -UNB
