Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said in Parliament that the government has no plan right now to cut interest rate of agriculture credit.
“Right now, there’s no plan to reduce interest rate of agriculture credit,” he said while responding to a starred question of Golam Dastagir Gazi (Narayanganj-1).At present, the interest of agriculture credit is 10 to 13 percent, which is lower than other credit to sectors, the Finance Minister said.
Replying to a question of Enamul Haque (Rajshahi-4), he said total operating profits (non-audited) of the top ten banks stood at Tk 9767.73 crore in 2013.
Of the 10 banks, Standard Charted Bank’s operating profit stood at Tk 1548.62 crore, followed by Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited with Tk 1456.57 crore. – UNB
