At least 17 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over possession of a piece of land at Grampangashi village in Raiganj upazila on Friday.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Raiganj Police Station, said Rahij Uddin of Grampangashi village and Akter Hossain of Rameshwargati village had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land at Grampangashi.As a sequel to the dispute, supporters of both the groups equipped
with lethal weapons attacked each other at Grampangashi village at about 5:00 pm, leaving 17 people injured.Several shops were vandalised during the clash.Being informed, police came in and brought the situation under control.Additional police personnel have been deployed to avert further trouble. -UNB Sirajganj
