A court here on Sunday sent six people, including newly elected Lohagarah upazila vice-chairman Nurul Absar, to jail in a case filed for assaulting Awami League MP Abu Reza M Nezamuddin Nadvi. Senior Judicial Magistrate Masud Parvez passed the order when the accused surrendered before his court in compliance with a High Court bail. Jahir Uddin, lawyer of Abu Reza M Nezamuddin Nadvi, said the accused were granted bail from the High Court until March 3. On January 31, ruling party MP Abu Reza M Nezamuddin faced an unexpected humiliation at a religious function at Chunati in Lohagarah as a group of people hurled water-bottles and some other objects at him. Later, an attempted murder case was filed against 3,000 Jamaat-Shibir men in this connection the following day. – UNB
