A suspected robber was shot and wounded in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Chhoyghoria in Sadar upazila on Friday noon.
The injured was identified as Mobasser Hossain Madhu, son of Abdul Aziz of Mathurapur village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Enamul Haque said being tipped-off, a team of police arrested Madhu from Lafsa village around 11am.
Later, the police team along with Madhu conducted a drive at Chhoyghoria to recover arms around 12pm.
Sensing the presence of police, associates of Madhu fired gunshots at the law enforcers to snatch Madhu from police custody, triggering a gunfight that left Madhu injured with bullets.
Critically injured Madhu was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hosital. –UNB, Satkhira
