Concern at ban on battery-powered rickshaws in Dhaka city

The owners and manufacturers of battery-run rickshaws on Friday expressed their concern over imposing ban on plying such rickshaws in Dhaka city, despite giving permission to import and assembling such rickshaws.
President of Dhaka District Rickshaw Owners Cooperative Society Fazlur Rahman and secretary Delowar Hossain Dilu in a joint statement urged the prime minister and ministers concerned for giving them permit for plying battery-run rickshaws in the city and providing their registrations from the legal authority.“It will ensure government to get legal revenues from this sector,” said the statement.
Otherwise, they said the government would lose its revenue and the owners and manufacturers would face economic losses.
The owners and manufacturers want to ply rickshaw paying the government legal revenue, they claimed.
They alleged that the authorities concerned are not allowing them to ply these rickshaws illogically despite government has given permission to import its machineries and assemble the rickshaws. – Staff Reporter
