A veteran freedom fighter was killed and another six persons including three women were injured in a road mishap in Lebutala-Rajapur area on Jessore-Magura Highway in Sadar upazila here on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Walier Rahman Mollah, 60, president of ward no-3 Awami League of Echali union of the upazila.The injured were Shahadat Hossen, 30, Firoz Islam, 42, Shahinur Begum, 35, Kahinur Begum, 32, Lima Khatun, 18, and Billal Hossen,20. Three of them were the bus passengers.Police and eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus from Benapole hit two motorcycles carrying four people on the road at around 11 am, leaving seven injured.The injured were admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital where Walier Rahman succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon.
