Transport owners call strike in Sylhet div from Tuesday

Sylhet Division Road Transport Owner-Worker Action Council will enforce an indefinite transport strike in the division on Tuesday to press home their seven-point demand.
The announcement came at a press conference held at a city hotel on Saturday afternoon. The demands include scrapping road permits of CNG-run auto-rickshaws and four-wheeled tempos known as Ima-Leguna, and banning all kinds of battery-driven three-wheelers on highways.
While reading out a written statement at the press conference, action council member secretary Sajib Ali said they had earlier submitted a memorandum to the divisional commissioner of Sylhet requesting him to take steps to meet their demands by November 5.
However, no step was taken yet in this regard, he said. “As a result, there’s no option left before us except calling the strike.” – UNB
