City BNP convenor Mirza Abbas yesterday termed Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, as septic boil for the party.
“It is not 20-party alliance, rather the Chhatra League that has become the septic boil of the Awami League,” he said while exchanging greetings at his Shajahanpur residence with Akbar Hossain, the newly elected chairman of Nasirabad Union Parisahd of Dhaka.Mirza Abbas’s comments came after a week Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan termed the BNP-led 20-party alliance as a poisonous boil for the country.
Referring to the killing of a BCL activist by other activists of the organisation in presence of police at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, the BNP policymaker said it is proved that the BCL is dangerous problem for the AL.
He called upon the government to restrain the BCL activists before making any comment against the opposition.
Abbas accused the government of creating obstacle to holding of rallies and meetings and urged the government to allow them to speak. “We expect democratic and political behaviour from the government,” he said.
He reiterated that the people would unseat the government through non-violent movement.
The BNP leader alleged that Secchasebok Dal leader Nayon was abducted by government people and later killed as he worked for UP chairman Akbar Hossain.
Habibur Rashid Habib, Jahangir Alam Minto, and Mizanur Rahman Sohl, among others, were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah at a function alleged that mystery shrouds over issuance of gazette nitification over the appointment of Sajeeb Wazed Joy as the Prime Minister’s ICT affairs adviser.
Addressing a discussion meeting at the Jatiya Press Club, he said Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam has given an excellent description as to how the government came to power and Chhatra League was used to implement the January 5 poll.
Shwadhinata Forum organised the meeting with its president Abu Naser Rahmatullah to mark the 50 birth anniversary of BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman. Barkatullah Bulu, Ahmed Azam Khan and Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, among others, were also addressed the meeting. – Satff Reporter
