7 killed 14 injured in Jessore, Rajshahi, Dhaka road mishaps

Seven people were killed and 14 others injured in road accidents in Jessore, Rajshahi and capital Dhaka on Friday.  The dead included four in Jessore,  two in Dhaka and one in Rajshahi.
In Jessore, four people, including a student of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST), were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Chaugachha and Sadar upazilas in the morning.Three passengers of a human hauler, including a JUST student, died on the spot and 10 others sustained injuries when a goods-laden truck from Churamankathi rammed the three-wheeler at Pultadanga in Chaugachha upazila around 11:30am, said Emdadul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Abu Hanif, 26, a student of JUST and resident of Tangail district, Khadiza Begum, 48, wife of Habibur Rahman, and Anisur Rahman, 23, son of Aminur Rahman of Chan Dhapra village in Chougachha upazila.
Among the injured, five were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
Later, students of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) set fire to a truck and put barricade on Jessore-Chougachha road protesting the death of a fellow student.
In another accident, a bus crashed into a human hauler on the Benapole-Jessore road at Dhopakhola in Sadar upazila around 10:30am, leaving its passenger Nur Islam, 45, son of Moksed Ali of Bodhkhana village in Jhikargachha upazila, dead on the spot.
In capital, two people, including a schoolboy, were killed and another was injured in separate accidents at Motijheel and Jatrabari.
A driver of a cosmetics manufacturing company, Akbar Ali, 35, son of Mansur Ali of Konapara under Demra police station, was killed as a bus ran over him the moment he alighted from another bus near Biman office at Motijheel in the early hours.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 8am, said Inspector Mozammel at the DMCH police camp.
In another accident, a moving bus hit a bicycle at Shanirakhra of Jatrabari around 7pm, leaving its rider Akbar Hossain, a Class-IX student of Dhania Blue Bird School and College and son of Iqbal Hossain of Rasulpur under Jatrabari Police Station, and his cousin Shuva injured.
They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Akbar dead around 8pm.
Shuva was given first aid.
In Rajshahi, an auto-rickshaw driver, Morshed Ali, 20, hailing from Poba upazila, was killed on the spot and two people suffered injuries as a truck rammed the auto-rickshaw in Chouddapay area of the city around 1pm.
Later, the injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Vehicular movement on Natore-Rajshahi highway came to a halt for an hour following the accident. – UNB
