Hunger strike if no dialogue in a week: B Chowdhury

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Sunday threatened to go on hunger strike together with people if the chiefs the two major parties do not sit in talks within a week.
“The country’s economy is on the verge of collapse…the prices of essentials are shooting up… we don’t support any movement which causes public sufferings…we want the two leaders (Hasina-Khaleda) to resolve the crisis through talks,” he said.A former president of the country B Chowhdury said this at a press conference at his Baridhara residence.
He said the way the two leaders are behaving in a crisis moment will not bring anything good for the country.
About the Prime Minister’s return from BNP chairperson’s office premises the BPD chief said, ”Locking the BNP Chairperson’s office was an unjust and keeping the gate locked despite the arrival of the Prime Minister at BNP chief’s office was unjust, too.”
“It would have been a good gesture in our political culture had the Prime Minister been allowed to enter the BNP chairperson’s office,” he said.
About the election process, he said, “Election can be held under the incumbent Prime Minister, it is the common practice in most of the countries, but the Prime Minister needed to be impartial.”
Later, B Chowdhury went to the Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office around 2:20 pm to meet her, but he could not meet her.
Coming out from the office, Dr Badruddoza said he could not meet the BNP chief as she under sedation as per doctor’s advice.
“As a doctor I can say she needs sleep and rest to come to terms. I would have given the same suggestion as a doctor. A mother who has lost her son just a day before needs not to meet anyone,” he said. Chowdhury signed a condolence book at Khaleda’s party office
