Newspaper editors for talks to end pol impasse

Newspaper editors on Sunday urged the government to resolve the country’s current political standoff through dialogue.
The request was made at a views-exchange meeting between the newspaper editors and some senior ministers of the government at the Secretariat with Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu in the chair.Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Water Resources Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Labour and Employment Mojibul Haque Chunu and editors and senior reporters of different daily newspapers were present.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Somokal editor Golam Sarwar said, ‘’We all think that the country’s political situation should be resolved and it should be done through talks. We all the editors have given the government this proposal at the meeting.’’
“We want peace in the country… we’re against terrorism and anarchy, which is going on across the country,” he said, adding that the problems must not continue anymore.
After the meeting, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed told the journalists that and environment for dialogue needs to be created to find out a solution to the political dispute. – UNB
