Bnp condemns case against Khaleda, alleges Govt sabotage

“The power usurper government has set another brutal and inhuman example by filing a false case against Khaleda Zia when she is in deep shock following the death of her son. We strongly condemn and protest it,” BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said in a statement.
Terming ‘conspiratorial and false’ the case filed against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its senior leaders in connection with Jatrabari bus torching incident, the party on Sunday warned of dire consequences if the case is not withdrawn immediately. He said, “We want to clearly state that the conspiratorial and false case filed against the BNP chairperson and other leaders and activists must be withdrawn immediately. Otherwise, it’ll not take long time that this illegal regime faces dire consequences.”
Saturday, a case was filed against 50 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, including Khaleda Zia and other top leaders, in connection with Friday’s arson attack on a bus at Jatrabar that left at least 30 people with burn injuried.
Rizvi said no evil design of the current government will be fruitful as people are now on the streets to ‘restore democracy’.
He also said the 20-party together with people will continue the ongoing blockade and hartal until the ‘democracy is restored’.
The BNP leader demanded the government immediately arrest and award punishment to those are actually involved in Jatrabari bus torching by hurling a petrol bomb. He expressed deep sympathy to the victims of the incident.
About the arrival of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in front of the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office to show sympathy to Khaleda Zia, Rizvi said, “We’ve taken it positively as we’ve thought she came to show sympathy as part of her social responsibility and not politics.”
He alleged that the filing of the case against Khaleda Zia has clearly exposed that the Prime Minister’s arrival at the BNP chief’s office was nothing but ‘fraudulence and a farcical showdown’. “The Prime Minister’s sympathy seems crocodile tears.”
Rizvi renewed his party’s allegation that the government is carrying out acts of sabotage during their blockade programme by its agents to divert people’s attention and anger to a different direction and malign the movement. – UNB
