Four persons including a child were killed and five others injured following head-on collision between a truck and a baby taxi at Kornogop area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Rupganj upazila this morning.
The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound truck (Chuadanga Ta- 11-524) carrying stones from Sylhet collided head-on with a baby taxi (Dhaka Metro tha 12-2950) coming from opposite direction at around 8-30 this morning, said Mahbubur Rahman, Officer In-Charge (OC) of Katchpur Highway thana.Three-year old child Emon, baby-taxi driver Mozammel, 40 and brick-kiln worker Kadir, 60, died on the spot. Baby taxi passenger Aklima, 25 succumbed to her injuries at a local clinic later.
The injured are: Khadiza, 6, Mohammad, 5 Sweety, 25, Suniti, 60 and Sentu, 25. The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) immediately.
Police has detained the truck from the spot but the driver managed to escape. – BSS
