Aarong opens sales centre marking holy Ramadan in Barisal

Aarong, a leading fashion and lifestyle brand in the country, opened
its first discount sales center on occasion of holy Ramadan in Barisal
at the basement of K Jahan Center on Sadar Road area of the city
center Tuesday.
Ripan Chandra Mandal, Barisal district Brac Representative (DBR),
Partnership Strengthening Unit (PSU), inaugurated the discount sales
center owned by Brac, the world’s largest non-governmental
organisation.
Giasuddin, executive logistic support, legal and compliance, Aminul
Islam, senior officer administration of Ayesha Abed Foundation, Saidur
Rahman, manager Brac Bank, Abir Rahman, manager One Bank, Barisal
branches, Jewel Shah Kabir, owner of the building, Abdul Khalek,
administrative officer, Zakir Hossain, field coordinator, Nityananda
Pandey, upazila accounts manager, Kibria Hossain, upazila manager of
Brac present among others in the inauguration ceremony.
The Aarong and Brac officials told that Aarong as the social
enterprise was set up in an effort to create employment for the
country’s poor, particularly for women.
They said Aarong was set up to give platform to rural crafts people so
that they can access market and sell their products. Aarong supports
lives and livelihoods of some 65,000 rural artisans and handicraft
producers. Women make up half the producer base.
Its goal was also to reinvest profits from Aarong in Brac’s various
poverty alleviation programmes.
For more than three decades, the customers have relied on the
35-year-old social enterprise Aarong for its unique design and
impeccable quality products. We hope that the unparalleled shopping

on the month of holy Ramadan will add a whole new dimension to the
divisional city’s retail marketing, they expected.
This discount sales center  of Aarong has different designs and types
of men’s brand like  traditional Kurta, executive shirts, Maanja,
Fotua, Short Kurta, T-Shirt, Shawls/Stoles, sandals, women’s brand
like traditional, western Taaga, nightwear, fabrics, bags, shoes,
scarves, family brands like textiles, fabrics, wallets, Nakshi Kantha
etc produced by the different production houses of Ayesha Abed
