Drug peddler gets life term

A trial court in Barisal on Tuesday sentenced a drug peddler to life
term imprisonment and fined Tk 20 thousand or to suffer six months
more RI in default.
The accused was Sajjad Hossain, 40, son of Khalek Kazi, from Nabagram
Road area of the city.
Muhammad Matiur Rahman, additional district and session judge of
Barisal, handed the verdict in presence of the accused under sections
3 (kha), 19, 19(1), 19(4) of Narcotic Control Act of 1990 after
examining 11 witnesses and other evidences.
The prosecution story on brief was, a team of Rapid Action Battalion
on September 21, 2011 searching the house of Sajjad recovered 13
bottles full, 35 bottles empty and 1.5 liter loose Phensedyl from
there.
Kazi Hamidul Huq, deputy assistant director RAB-8, lodged a case with
Barisal Kotwali police station on the same night against Sajjad.
Sub Inspector Iranur Rahman, investigation officer of the case, filed
charge sheet against the lone accused on October 31, 2010. -Our
