Students of Secondary School Certificate Examination of 2015 and 2016
batches protesting introduction of creative (srijonshil) type of
curriculum in Mathematics took out procession on city roads, formed
human chain and handed over memorandum to the education board
officials on Tuesday.
Tanvir Ahmed Ayon, Rifat Hasan, students of Barisal Government Zilla
School, on behalf of the participants addressing the human chain rally
in front of the Barisal Education Board, said not only the students,
but also the Mathematics teachers yet to be habituated and trained in
the creative system of curriculum.
It created panic among the students about failure or getting poor
results in Mathematics in SSC level, they added.
So creative system in Mathematics should be introduced after 2017 or
2018 batches giving more time to be familiar with the system from the
junior level of education and getting sufficient number of trained
mathematics teachers to teach that, the participants agreed.
After the human chain, the protesters went to Barisal Education Board
and handed over a memorandum to the BEB authority and held procession
on city roads. Abul Bashar Talukdar, inspector of schools BEB,
receiving the memorandum said they will forward it to the concerned
authorities for selecting curriculum. -Our Correspondent
