Dhaka – Abahani maintained winning spree in the 12-team Dhaka Premier Division Hockey League beating Bangladesh SC by 3-1
goals in their 3rd encounter at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Friday. Rajib Das fired the net first by a penalty corner goal in the 32nd minute for Abahani, but within a minute Shabaz Ali leveled the margin also by a penalty corner goal for Bangladesh SC. Abahani went ahead again with Sheikh Mohammad Nannu’s field goal in the 58th minute wile Irfan extended the lead in the 61st minute. Abahani started the tournament campaign crushing Railway by 14-0 goals and sealed 2nd win against Wari Club by 10-0 margin. Bangladesh SC sealed the first victory against Sadharan Bima by a solitary goal while beat Ajax SC by 4-2 goals. In another league match on the day, Dhaka Wanderers Club and Ajax SC played 2-2 at the same venue. Sarwar Morshed scored a penalty corner goal in the 22nd minute and Al Nahian Shuvo struck a field goal in the 32nd minute for Dhaka Wanderers. Rahat Sarwar and Rubel scored one field goal each in the 55th and 58th minutes for Ajax SC. After the draw, Dhaka Wanderers remained unbeaten with two wins and one draw outplaying Sonali Bank SRC by 7-4 goals in the first match and beating Azad SC by 3-2 goals in the 2nd match.
Ajax SC lost their previous two encounters against Dhaka Mariner YC and Bangladesh SC by 4-1 and 4-2 respectively. (UNB)
