Nat’l Judo: BGB clinch 4 gold on opening day

Dhaka  – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) secured four gold medals on the opening day of the 33rd National Judo Competition at
Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium, Mirpur on Friday. Hasanur Rahman (100kg plus), Abul Kalam (100kg), Jahangir Alam (90kg)
and Milton Mojudar (73kg) bagged gold in their respective weight categories of Men’s Group. In the Women’s group, Tahmida Akter Lopa of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) clinched gold in 78kg plus weight category. Karina Khanam (Army) and Maksuda (Ansar & VDP) secured gold medals in 78kg and 70kg weight categories respectively.
Earlier in the day, State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder inaugurated the competition as the chief guest. Including men and women, a total of 214 competitors split in 19 weight categories are taking part in the two-day long competition. Total 94 men competitors split in 10 weight categories are competing in the meet while 120 women in nine categories.(UNB)
