Veteran journalist ABM Musa who passed away in the capital on Wednesday was laid to eternal rest here on Thursday night. He was buried at his family graveyard at Kutubpur village in Fulgazi upazila around 9:30pm following fourth namaz-e-janaza. Earlier, the mortal remains of the senior journalist were taken to his home district from the capital in the afternoon. His body was kept at Feni Press Club for some time where people from all walks of life paid their last respects to the senior journalist. Later, his 3rd namaz-e-janaza was held at Mizan Maidan in the district town after Maghrib prayers. His first janaza was held at Iqbal Road in Mohammadpur on Wednesday and the second one at the National Press Club in the capital on Thursday. A large number of people, including journalists, politicians and civil society members, paid their last respects to the veteran journalist at the National Press Club in the capital. They flocked in their hundreds on the Jatiya Press Club premises when his body was taken there around 12:30 pm. They placed wreaths at his coffin and took part in his second namaz-e-janaza held on the club premises. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Press Club president Kamaluddin Sabuj, general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed, Dhaka University vice-chancellor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Prof Anisuzzamn, journalist Kamal Lohani and BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among others, joined the janaza. ABM Musa, a close aide of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, passed away at a city hospital on Wednesday at the age of 83. Born at Dharmapur village in Feni in 1931, Musa was the founder member of the National Press Club. He contributed to different fields of journalism during his 64 years of professional life. ABM Musa received many awards, including the Ekushey Padak. A life member of the National Press Club, ABM Musa was elected president of the club for four times while general secretary thrice. He was elected a Member of Parliament in the first national election of the country in 1973. He started his career in journalism with now-defunct The Insaf in 1950. Later, he joined the Pakistan Observer and served it in various capacities. – UNB
