ACC files railwaygate case

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday filed a case against Enamul Huq, suspended security commandant of Bangladesh Railway Security Force, Dhaka Division, for his alleged involvement in the railway employment scandal and concealing information his wealth statement.
ACC deputy assistant director Monirul Islam filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station, said ACC Public Relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
According to the first information report (FIR) Enamul submitted his wealth statement to the ACC on June 3 by concealing information about his property worth over Tk 56 lakh.
Enamul was among the three persons, who were caught by the members of Border Guards of Bangladesh around midnight on April 9 when they were carrying about Tk 74 lakh in a microbus allegedly towards the residence of former railway minister.
Ali Azam Khan, driver of Omar Faruq Talukder, the sacked APS to the former railway minister drove the vehicle into Pilkhana BGB headquarters blowing whistle on carrying illegal money.
APS Omar Faruq Talukder and railway general manager (Eastern Zone) Yusuf Ali Mridha were the other passengers of the microbus.
The BGB detained the four that night and freed them in the following morning. The driver however went missing since then.
The Commission approved the proposal of lodging a case against Enamul Haque on Tuesday on charge of accumulating the illegal wealth.
Earlier, on May 14, the ACC served a notice to the former commandant to provide his wealth statement to the Commission.
The former railway minister tendered his resignation taking the responsibility and later on he was made minister without portfolio.
