The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will begin inquiry against former BNP lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Jamaat lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar over their alleged illegal wealth.The decision was taken at a regular meeting on the commission on Wednesday with its chairman M Bodiuzzaman in the chair, said an ACC official.
He said the commission recently received some allegation against BNP’s student affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Khulna City Jamaat-e-Islami chief Mia Golam Parwar.
The ACC official said the commission is now conducting investigation against at least 12 BNP leaders including two vice-chairman M Morshed Khan and Sadek Hossain Khoka, standing committee member Moudud Ahmed and former state minister of education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon.
The commission has recently started inquiry against seven ruling party people who were ministers and lawmakers in the tenure of the immediate-past Awami League-led government after the wealth statements they submitted to the Election Commission (EC) for contesting the national elections of January 5 had showed an unusual increase in their wealth in the past five years.
The ruling party people are– former health minister AFM Ruhul Haque, former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, former state minister for water resources ministry Mahbubur Rahman, lawmaker of Cox’s Bazar-4 Abdur Rahman Badi, Dhaka-14 Aslamul Haque Aslam, Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara) Enamul Haqueand Satkhira -2 Abdul Jabbar. – Staff Reporter
