Popular film actor for negative roles Khalilur Rahman Babar is in serious condition at the Comfort Hospital, Green Road in the city. On June 9 due to spread of gangrene his left leg from the knee had to be cut off. For a long time he has been absent from screen due to illness. He has been suffering from diabetes. He is aged 68.
On April 30 he was admitted to the hospital and then doctors suggested him surgery. Doctors surgically removed three of his toes on the left leg on that occasion. Then he was released and went back home. But then again as his condition deteriorated he was admitted to the hospital again on June 9.
Now he has to be kept at the hospital for a lengthy period and the family is struggling to cater for the expenses. His wife Latifa Babar has confirmed that she is seeking support from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Babar debuted as actor in Amjad Hossain’s ‘Banglar Mukh’. But then he introduced himself as a prolific player of negative roles through Jahirul Haque’s film ‘Rongbaz.’ He has acted in more than three hundred films and also directed and produced some including ‘Doyaban’, ‘Daagi’ etc.
