ADB to finance upgradation of four BD highways

Dhaka, Sep 4 (UNB) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is going to provide funds for the upgradation of the country’s four highways into four-lane ones, said its country director Manmohan Parkash on Wednesday.

The four highways — Dhaka-Sylhet, Rangpur-Banglabandha, Rangpur-Burimari and Faridpur-Barishal — will also have separate lanes for slow-moving vehicles.

Manmohan said this when he met Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at his ministry.

A feasibility study on the Faridpur-Barishal and Rangpur-Burimari highways has already been completed, Parkash said.

ADB is also providing fund for making Elenga-Hatikamrul-Rangpur road a four-lane one under the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Road Connectivity Project (Sasek) and the expansion of Cox’s Bazar-Ukhia-Teknaf road.
