AL activist hurt in Jessore gun attack by ‘rivals’

Jessore, Jan 05 – A local Awami League activist suffered bullet injuries in an attack reportedly by party rivals at Chandpur village in Chougachha Upazila of Jessore on Saturday night. The victim is Lokman Hossain, 35, brick kiln worker and son of Atar Ali of the village. He is an activist of local Awami League.
Victim’s brother Mansur said Lokman went to take tea at Chandpur intersection around 8:30 pm.
At that time, Shamim, Ainuddin, Shafiqul and Russel of the village opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. He received bullet wounds to his left leg.
Later, he was taken to the General Hospital, he added.
Rifat Khan, officer-in-charge of Chougachha Police Station, said they were looking into the matter.
He said they have launched a drive to arrest those involved in the incident.- UNB
