Dhaka – The ruling Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has expressed his apprehension that a massive violence might be taken place in the country ahead of the next general elections scheduled to be held in 2019.Calling upon the patriotic people to remain united to keep continue the constitutional process in the country, the AL general secretary said, the communal forces have been organising secretly and they can create anarchy in the country ahead of the next general elections. He also asked the party’s leaders and activists to remain alert in this regard.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said these while talking to reporters after attending at a preparatory meeting of Awami Swechchasebok League, at the party chief Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
In another programme, the AL general secretary criticized their arch rival BNP for distorting history of Liberation War. He alleged that BNP has no faith in the Great Liberation War and that’s why the party does not observe the historic 7th March when the father of the nation Bangabanhdu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman declared the Independence of the country.
He came up with the statement after paying tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths on his portrait at Dhanmondi-32, on the occasion of the historic March 7.
“Observance of historic March 7 is a matter of values, spirit and ideology. BNP does not accept history rather if they come to power they want to create history as per their will,” he said.
In observance of the day, national and party flags were hoisted atop of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi and party offices.
Meanwhile, in observance of the day, the ruling party organized a discussion meeting at the institution of engineers, Bangladesh, where the party general secretary alleged that BNP has become reckless to regain the lost state power and that’s the party leaders are often making indiscriminate statements against the government
