AL has confidence to win final victory: Nasim

Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said that his party is neither frustrated nor worried by the defeat of five party supported mayoral candidates.“The reason behind the defeats of the party-backed candidate will be investigated. Though it is a temporary debacle, the party will win the final battle,” he said.
Nasim, also a former Home Minister, said this while addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Dhaka Division unit at Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Nasim said that Awami League knows how to fight in a unified way in the time of any disaster. “ The people of the country will give Awami League a chance to correct its fault, if there is any. Awami League has such confidence to snatch victory by correcting its fault.”
Mentioning the misrule of the BNP-led alliance government during its 2001-2006 tenure, Nasim said that people of the country have to decide that whether the democratic system of the country will continue or whether it reverts to militancy or military rule.
He urged the main opposition BNP not to threaten the government over the provision of election time government, saying the recently concluded polls to five city corporations proved that the Election Commission is independent and strong. It is possible to hold national elections under interim government.Krishak League vice-president MA Karim, among others, addressed it, held with Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote vice-president Mobarak Ali Sikder in the chair. – UNB
