AL leader stabbed in Sylhet

A group of miscreants in an attack seriously injured a local Awami League leader by stabbing him in Khadim Bypass area on the
Sylhet-Tamabil road on Sunday. The injured was identified as Oliur Rahman, vice-president of the Kanaighat upazila unit of AL and resident of Narayanpur village under Gachhbari union of the upazila.
Witnesses said a group of bandits swooped on Oliur Rahman in Khadim Bypass area at 2.00pm while he was going to Sylhet town from Kanaighat along with his cousin Mostak Ahmed riding a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
They stabbed him indiscriminately leaving him severely injured and left the scene.
Mostak Ahmed with the help of locals took Oliur to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Local sources said Oliur is accused in 15-20 cases including women repression.
A local group has recently become active against him for taking all the share of income from a garbed water body in the area, added the sources.
Shahporan thana Officer-in-charge Ikhtiar Uddin said it only has been heard that a man was stabbed by miscreants in Khadim Bypass area but the culprits could not be identified.
