AL man killed in Jhenidah factional clash

Jhenidah – An Awami League activist was killed and six others were injured in a clash between two factions of the party at Tikari village in Sadar upazila on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Arif Hossain, 20. Witnesses said there had been a longstanding dispute between local Awami League leader adv Abdul Malek and Fursundi UP chairman Shahid Shikhder over establishing supremacy in the area.
The clash broke out as supporters of Malek attacked the followers of Shahid following an altercation at Tikari Bazar around 6:45pm.  Later, both groups equipped with sharp weapons attacked each another, leaving seven people, including Arif, injured.
On information, a DB police team rushed to the spot and fired shots to bring the situation under control. Arif died on the way to Magura Sadar Hospital around 08:40am, said the victim family members. – UNB
